'74 VW Dasher
'74 Coupe DeVille (2nd car for a while, while I had the VW)
'80 Scirocco S (replaced Dasher)
'84.5 WE Scirocco (replaced '80) I had this one for 13 years!
'68 Olds Cutlass S (2nd car while I had the 2nd Scirocco)
'77 Jeep CJ 7 (")
'78 Triumph Spitfire (")
'78 Suburban (")
THEN... I went and got married, about that time my WE Scirocco was hit and totaled, I bought it back since it was drivable and drove it until shortly after the wedding, at which time I bought her a
'98 Dodge Stratus (NEW)(not a bad little car with the 5 speed), and I ended up driving her
'89 Isuzu Amigo (after a year of driving this POS I got fed up and bought something I liked)
'86 944 (replaced Isuzu)
Of course we went and had a kid and she got tired of commuting with a 5 speed so
'01 Chrysler minivan (NEW)(replaced Stratus)
As of Saturday, we added a "commuter for dad to put tons of miles on, instead of driving the P-car a zillion miles/year"
'98 Ford Ranger XLT Supercab.

Is it lost on anyone that I've bought exactly 2 NEW cars in the last 2 decades and both of them were for my wife? Pay attention here single guys!

Hey Marc, I see I'm not the only one who had an '80 Scirocco S.
White, silver, red or black? Mine was Alpine white. You weren't the guy I used to wave to in traffic in Millburn ~1984, were you?

Dave, mine was Alpine white also! I owned it around 84-85 I think and I lived in Livingston at the time so I was local.
It was a great car!

junior and senior years of high school : 1998-2000
1993 Ford Tempo: 2.3l of mediocrity. it got me through high school, and it fit 6 people at times sold to a co-worker for more than i paid for it

aside: later in 1998 we purchased our 1983 944 garage queen. i drove it every now and then when i decided i needed to be cool. its a good thing i didn't mess it up. the car got me started on the addiction...

college: semesters 1-3
1989 Mercury Grand Marquis: 5.0l of land barge action. comfortable ride, 20 mpg, plenty of room for all my college crap. inherited from mom, then donated when i decided enough was enough: time for a p-daily driver

college: semester 4
1985.5 Porsche 944: the learning experience. we still didn't know ALOT about 944's because we didn't drive the other one much. but i decided that it was so cool i had to have one to drive every day. ANY one would do - so it was a faded guards on black automatic. the $2,500 car ended up costing over 6k... but it was worth it to learn the car. it's been sold to a family friend in CT, where it is undergoing daily abuse.

college: semesters 5-8(present time, and currently owned)
1984 Porsche 944: My 'GT Garage Queen'. bought from a fellow in ft. laudie who babied it. it had been in an accident but had been repainted and the interior was in good shape. bought at 68k miles... its coming up on a timing belt replacement, but has served well daily, with several autocrosses and a DE under her timing belt

college: semesters 9, 10, and beyond college (recently purchased)
recently added 1992 Mazda MX-5 Miata: 1.6l of go-kart action! what a fun little car to drive. nowhere near the build quality of the 944, but you can't beat it for fuel efficient, top-dow, relaxation driving, and the occasional spout of abuse. ok, not so occasional... more unending.

all have served well, and i've never been stranded or in an accident. i've had a couple tickets - both in P-cars.

it's cool to see what has lead us all to our obsession!

Anybody else own a Suzuki Samauri. Think 914. A battle with the air in which it loses from the inside out. I could actually walk out to the Zuk and see a difference in rust from the day prior. Like tree rings. Id have other Zuk owners approach me and just count the rings. "Ahh yes, looks like its an 88. Right?"

I'm 18, and I've had 4 cars.

1990 Saab 9000S (we put a turbo on it)
1988 Saab 9000 Turbo
1980 Saab 99 GLi
1988 Porsche 944 S

I might be picking up another car shortly, either a 1988 civic, 1991 subaru, or 1987 Saab 900S. Oh yea and the 944 is for sale.
