Default Advice needed. Crack in main journal.

So I noticed this crack prior to assembly. It’s on the second main journal. I can’t see any other cracks or anything on the other side or any play in the stud. Is this something I can run in a 951 with a little bit more power. 250-300hp. Nothing crazy. Or will this kill my engine? My first thought was ****, I hate this. But with the design of the crank bearing girdle i thought i could maybe still run this block that is already machined and everything. Please don’t roast me. I know this is not perfect, but this is so depressing. What are my options? Welding, small hole to stop further cracking, leave it or new block.

First and immediate thought - replace the block. That area around the crack looks rough.
Talk to a reputable machinist, I have seen worse damage repaired. Then again, a 2.5? May be cheaper to replace than to repair.

Yeah just taking a normal 2.5 block would probably be cheaper maybe. But i want atleast the right engine code M44/51 and there is the probleme here in europe. Because most of them also need machining then and then it gets expensive again. But thanks for the input.

Anybody here has some experience with laser welding and if this could be done here? I think taking a new block and the work that then has to be don will be atleast 1000€. Maybe even more. So if there would be a chance to save it, i would atleast look at how much this would set me back.

Yeah if shipping and Tax to germany wouldnt be that high. Also i want a M44/51 just for my inner peace of having the right engine code. And if the block is here then it probably also have to be machined, but i will look into this and maybe i can find a good deal.

Probably not any cheaper but curious how much a new block is in Germany directly from Porsche. Might be worth a check.

Bummer about that crack.
Take it to an automotive machine shop for advice.
Maybe it could be welded...
But my guess, because that is cracked through the threaded hole is "not feasible".
