Default Educate me on center caps

I have an 86 turbo with 16" phone dials. I have the plain black crested center caps, and I want to get the colored crest ones. I'd consider painting the ones I have, but they are not in all that great of shape.

What do the center caps I need look like from the back? What are their dimensions? Anyone have part numbers for the ones that will work? I see a bunch of colored crest center caps on Ebay, but I'm not sure which are the ones I need.

Help clarify this for me please!!
Thanks,
Chuck

Hi Chuck,

If you are trying to get an idea of some of the combinations and how they look - go here Rennlist Direct.... At the top - you will see a link to a gallery of different colors/sizes/Crests. As well, on the opening page - you should see some descriptions and pictures of the differences. It may help you figure out what you are seeing on eBay and the sizes you need..???

Hope this helps....

John

That's great...I never knew that was there.

The problem I'm having is that I don't even know what size I need OR the type of locking mechanism on the back of the caps.

PD's have a circular cup that's attached to the back of the centercap- it just presses into the wheel.

Aftermarket locks are available, as are a variety of replacements.

You want the "flat dish" type, not the fuch centercaps.

I just refinished my caps, which looked pretty lousy. Mine were original and seemed to have been annodized. After I took the coating (or clear coat, whatever it was) off with acetone and easy-off oven cleaner, I painted them silver to match the wheels. They look good this way and the crests can then be painted as desired. I don't know why the factory didn't paint them like this so that they match the wheels in the first place.
