I've just been out on my local country roads at 5:30 am so I could bed in my new front discs and pads and be relatively traffic free with my braking shenanigans 🙂.
I bought new sebro drilled discs , although I don't really need them as I have no intention of tracking my 944, because I really like the drilled look.
I bought them and replaced them as I believed I had a problem with the ones fitted (pagid & only 15,000 miles). Massive judder through pedal and steering wheel.
And after checking runout decided to replace.
Terrible at high speed , as I did a 2700 mile roadtrip in Germany this month and braking at 140mph was a right bone shaker!
Sadly as soon as I put on and checked runout it was still way out at about 0.15mm (limits are 0.05). The right hand hub was the problem and I had a spare, so after a new bearing I fitted and was ok .
Now, braking is a pleasure and not shaking everything about.
I hopefully am going to do some top speed runs at an event here in the UK in July. Last year, when I did another road trip in Germany I hit 145.1mph gps recorded but bottled it after front went light .
Ive since fitted a front splitter for this year's trip and only managed just under 140mph with traffic and brakes being a massive problem.
think it's got 150mph+ in it as it was still pulling hard at 145mph when I lifted on the previous 2023 trip.
Its interesting, I have read cross drilled rotors are actually not recommended for track/performance driving due to being prone to cracking between the cross drilled sections. I believe slotted rotors are superior.
They do look cooler than stock rotors though! Nice car

I agree about them looking cooler too. That's the only reason I got them , although they were far too expensive. (Nearly 3 x more than just normally vented ones.) 😵💫
My planned top speed run might be off as well , as I've just discovered that the distance measured is only 1.25 miles.
I don't think that's anywhere near long enough to get anywhere near top speed.
I think you're probably right.
I found these stats online for the S2.
Porsche 944 S2 0-60 and acceleration in miles per hour
0-10 mph 0.9 s
0-20 mph 1.6 s
0-30 mph 2.3 s
0-40 mph 3.2 s
0-50 mph 4.4 s
0-60 mph 6.4 s
0-70 mph 9.2 s
0-80 mph 13.2 s
0-90 mph 17.8 s
0-100 mph 22.4 s
0-110 mph 26.6 s
0-120 mph 29.8 s
Porsche 944 S2 quarter mile and acceleration in feet
300 feet 6.7 s @ 61 mph
1/8 mile 10.5 s @ 81 mph
1000 feet 13.8 s @ 93 mph
Quarter mile 16.5 s @ 101 mph
2000 feet 21.4 s @ 112 mph
1/2 mile 25.4 s @ 118 mph
3000 feet 27.5 s @ 120 mph
3500 feet 30.2 s @ 124 mph
My car is running at 237hp at the moment compared to the S2's 211hp, so maybe I can match those times.
By that math, it can do 384 mph in one mile. I think I've had too much coffee.
Consider that MPH increase isnt linear though. Once you are in 5th gear you will accelerate much slower than in the first 4 gears and you will need a longer and longer distance for each increase in mph due to wind resistance and gearing.
I am also quite certain the numbers posted are incorrect. The s2 is much quicker than 16.5s in the quarter mile. Google says 14.7s. Car and Driver put the S model at 15.2s from what I can find, and the S2 is obviously faster than an S.

Regarding the figures I'd previously put, you're right , they do seem wrong.
I've just looked at a Porsche 944 book that's titled Porsche 944 gold portfolio 1981-1991, and it's full of reviews from the time , and there's lots of differing data for all types.
Thanks for posting. Great color. Amazing these nearly-40-year-old, 2.5L 4-cylinder cars can pull that kind of speed, even to today's standards. And I also like the look of the drilled rotors. Very nice overall!

Sounds like an interesting book. can you please share photos of the cover, publisher details and the contents pages? TIA
It's quite a good book actually and That particular book is 172 pages published by motorbooks international, winsconsin.
It's got articles judging particular 944 models against other cars of the time.
I've collected quite a few 944 books over the years.

Love the car. First time seeing the turbo s wheel in blk and it’s a game changer. braking at 140 for most vehicles is pretty sketchy. Def wouldn’t recommend doing it again unless absolutely necessary. Out of curiosity, were u running at 140 for an extended period or just curious about top speed? If it’s Na I would love to know more about your current setup 🤙
No, I only touched 140mph this year and 145mph last year for a moment. Some parts of the German autobahn, as you are probably well aware are unrestricted and all have great flat road surfaces.
However , many are only 2 lanes and during the day can be busy.
So it was quite hairy at times.
Usually I was cruising quite happily at 90-100mph when I could.
It is a NA and it's a high compression 2.5 16v engine with 3.0 S2 knife edge crankshaft so a stroker at about 2.88 litres.
It's got JE forged pistons oversized 101mm. Turbo forged rods , Block was bored at an engine shop with correct procedures with alusil. Windage ports . S2 air intake manifold with 70mm throttle body running vems standalone ECU and 4x coil on plugs and bespoke stainless exhaust system amongst lots of other bits n bobs. S2/turbo suspension & brakes.
Running 237hp at flywheel.
