Default Polishing an 88 Turd

Swamp thing

After a pressure wash

Found Narnia

After some interior cleaning

Picked up an 88 NA for pretty much nothing. 86k Original miles but was sitting since 2007. The pictures are after I got out all the boxes of parts, clothes, trash and tools. It was filled to the rim with stuff. This car has so rust in the typical rocker/wheel well edge on both sides. Owner had the balanceshaft belt break and since has let it sit outside/uncovered. Currently debating what to do with it. I have most of the damaged parts in better condition from my previous cars if I go that way. There's been an obvious repaint and some light filler as well as a few other things I've noticed. Not sure on the fabric interior though and I like the D90 wheels but I'm sure I'll sell those.

Considering a GTP Le Mans style build or something like Doc's old car. Then most likely another v8 as I have an L33 in the garage.

I believe 89 had the 2.7 and 88 just had a slightly higher hp 2.5 around 160hp give or take.

Well not happy but also not super surprised I found a bunch of rust in the floor pans. I got one rusted seat out which I will have to repair the seat mount locations due to extensive rust. The other seat won't budge so hopefully I can figure out the hang up. Most of the rust I found isn't a big deal and can be wire wheeled, phosphoric acid and painted but there is two smaller holes I'll have to patch and the toe board area has a decent hole as well. Also have some spots near the rocker/wheel well areas but if I go widebody they get cut anyway. So much for an easy toy, surprisingly the mustang has less rust lol. Good news is I stripped out 40lbs of old sound deadening out if the cabin area (weighed it in a trash bag). Might as well start the weight reduction process and pull the rear seats, cruise control, wiper fluid container, rear bumper, sunroof motors and whatever else worthy.
