Default Wheelsizing 944 1983

Hello Everyone,

Currently painting the car, so I only need one final step! Finding the right wheels.
I have been looking around for 2 weeks, without real success.

Currently, I have the stock 15x7 Forged Black Star. (15 inch, ET 23.3, 7J) back and front.

I want to line the wheels more with the body. So ive been looking at 17 inch, bronze, 8,5J/9J back and 7J front.
This means that the ET for the back is very low (8,5J = ET4) (9J = ET-2). The 8,5 will go 38mm more outward and the 9 will go 50mm.
To ensure that the inside of the wheel won't go any further into the body (image down below). Apparently this has a big impact on the car

I do not want to use spacers, because I have heard stories that the suspension will get messed up because of it.
Of course the 5 x 130 doesn't really help.

So far I have found 1 set of wheels that would be possible, but then I will need to put spacers on.

If anyone has recommendations on wheels/rims, websites or maybe an opinion on what I could do differently, I am all ears!

Some would say that you already have the "right wheels". The Fuchs 5 spoke wheel is strong, light, iconically beautiful and fits your car perfectly. Hub centric spacers can be used without concern to fine tune the tire sidewall position relative to the fender lip.

I am running "fuch reps" on my early 85 (same as your car) with a 7.5" front and 9" rear in 17" diameter. I am running the stock factory spacers in the rear and 1.5" spacers on the front. The ride quality has been great despite all the warnings people give. You are going to have a really hard time filling out the fenders with a 15" wheel without using spacers as 15" wheels are considered tiny these days. If you are looking for something close to OEM you may look for some turbo/951 fuchs ($$) or some early turbo phone dials as they would share the same offset as your car while being a little wider wheels. You would still likely want some spacers to push them out though if you are wanting to fill the fenders.

the Fuch reps look pretty nice, but they are around ET55 or ET40. these ET values are to high for my car (i need to go to 20 ET or lower).

The wheels I am running in the rear are ET 16. The fronts are the ones I had a hard time finding with a decent offset, hence the spacers.

I have have 10" wide ET10 wheels at back and have no problems. It's an early offset car.
