Default Odometer problems

It seems I'll never have a fully functioning odometer at this point. Now it's "sort of" working. It just randomly will turn and randomly won't. It doesn't stop on any specific digits, or any specific mileage on the trip odometer. I took it apart tonight, but I couldn't replicate the results using a drill to turn the odometer/ speedometer. The gear looked perfectly fine and everything was spinning nicely. This one really has me baffled.

the gear is slipping on the pinion- If you drive it to 944fest I'll fix that for you there.

Don't listen to this man! He's never seen an early Odo in his life!

JK. Yeah, mine has done that, too. The hotter the weather, the more slippage. I dropped a little super glue on mine after fixing it (for the third time) and it seems to be settled now (knock on wood). Also, mine would "walk" down the pinion, causing it to neglect to mesh sometimes.

No matter what the problem (walking or slipping) it will NEVER do it while your turning it with a drill - the Porsche Gods wouldn't want you to actually see the problem, would they?

Good luck.

Dale.
