Default On the road to Nashville!

Driving from Raleigh to Nashville tomorrow morning. A good friend is taking command of a battalion at Ft. Campbell on Thursday morning (101st Airborne Division).
Should be a great trip for us, lots of open mountain highways and twisty back roads. New 968 (for me), new oil, and new clutch.
What more can you ask for???

One problem - I don't like country music.
What else is there to do in Nashville?
Any car museums????

The Nashville MSA has about twice the population of the Raleigh. You should be able to find something to do.

What sort of entertainment do you want?

You going to do the dragon?

Drop me a line. Several lister's here in town. If you are going to be around for awhile, we will be having a tech session with Jim Pasha on 944 timing belt on July 10.

Actually a 2 day visit - Tuesday on the road and then Simon and Garfunkel that night, Wednesday god knows what tourism, Thursday off to scenic Ft. Campbell, and later that day back to NC (Blowing Rock).
With my wonderful, Porsche-loving, wife along for the adventure we will undoubtably stop at numerous antique shops and outlet malls

What else is there to do in Nashville?

Not a damn thing. I go there every month and I cringe each time.

Funny, last time I was there I was on an ERJ (43 pass.) and on the way OUT of Nashville a 737, apparently I am not the only one who feels that way :>)

I love Nashville myself, but I am a guitar junkie, so there is plenty for me to do. Lower Broad is a good place to nightclub crawl, but you'll get your fill of C&W. You can also find decent punk and alternative bands too, if you like that sort of thing.

Jim Pasha on the 10th? hmmm... maybe its time for a road trip!

Regards,

Thanks, B. I agree, good to meet everyone... Shame we couldn't get a few more out there, as I enjoyed meeting everyone, and seeing how much work I really have to do to get my 944 as nice as everyone elses....

Matt, Nashville was my college town, and four years in Nashville just were not enough for me: I'm considering moving back, I like it so much. The next time you are coming into Nashville, let me know. I'm only 2 hours away, and would be glad to show you around (if you have the time, that is). At the bare minimum, we can talk 951s non-stop!

The tech session we are having on the 10th sounds like a time for a GTG.

Plus Pasha can answer all of the "myth" questions we all seem to come up with. Plus Predator will be there and you guys can see it in person and see how good that car really looks.

Despite some nasty traffic on I40 (does the Tenn DOT have a f%#@ing clue???), we made the 1500+ mile trip in fine style. There is sooo much to do in Nashville - even if you don't like country music. BB King's was awesome! We also visited the Hermitage - Andrew Jackson's home - a beautiful and perfectly kept house (180 year old wallpaper in perfect condition). A historian by training and trade, it was a great visit.

On the way back we cut over from I81 through Johnson City, TN on our way to Blowing Rock, NC. Took 421/321 through the mountains along Wautaga Lake. An incredible road - all 2nd and 3rd gear twisties for 20 miles.

The 968 ran like a top. 25+ mpg and not a drop of oil. I love this car. I love Porsche.

Hurricane Region PCA barbeque run tomorrow from Raleigh to Asheboro. I just barely had time to wash the car.

I'm glad you had a good trip. Yes, the Hermitage is outstanding, especially for history buffs like us. Did you make it to the Opryland Hotel, per chance? I also recently enjoyed a 1500+ mile trip in an Amazon Green Machine, and wow, what a trip it was! One last thing, I love Porsche, too!
