balljoint replacement
hi
my car failed the MOT for the balljoint
i have ordered a replacement kit for the balljoint rather than a new balljoint
my car is a 1987 944s
can i relace the balljoint without removing the whole arm
i don't have a press or a suitable vice so i was hoping just to be able to tap the balljoint out with a hammer is this possible
it looks as though you just unbolt the top and remove the circlip and the whole lot will just drop out is this right or is there a bit more to it than that
for any help

Pop the circlip out and the whole assembly just falls out. Depending on which kit you got you may receive a new circlip with it. The new ones will have holes to make life much easier getting that bugger back in.
A C clamp will be sufficient for putting the joint back together with the new bushings.

Thats what i was thinking
but what no holes in the circlip i bet that will be a bugger to get out
a well part wont be here till Monday so plenty of time to figger out the best way to remove circlip (screwdriver and hammer me thinks )

To be honest with everyone... the truly easiest way to get the circlip out is to use a tiny cutter to make a slot in the aluminum so you can use a pick to get behind it.
