Skip, it's a late car, 1986. You can see the telltale fuel lines going into the passenger fenderwell over the rail. You can also see the AC lines right there under the brace - mine fits fine.

We have one of the Racing Dynamics Strut Braces in stock... it's salient characteristic is that it is very light (about 5 pounds). Made of aluminum, very nice piece.

Give me a call if you are interested.

I have a Rustmeister bar and it has the same hood contact problem Mr. Grehan mentioned. I'm kind of thinking I want to check out the Stable Energies bar. The upper bar does not have Heim joints, so you can't experience chassis flex around them, plus there are two more mount point triangulated down to the crossbrace or something. Looks interesting.

But first I must sort the parking brakes on my car, which I discovered on the way home are sort of stuck in the engaged position. Hot and smelly and not so good for bearings and CV joints.

We've all been wondering if they actually do anything... How about using a strain gauge to measure the deflection of the strut brace? Has this been suggested before?

This would allow us to see the forces applied to the strut brace... I dont believe strain gauges are all that expensive, but I may be wrong.

Oh my G-d, you don't remember that long *** thread a while back when KLA was introducing their bar. Erik was going to do something with cameras and strain gauges and such and I think bailed on the idea.

Interesting info, Sam. You are the original owner and installer of the RD strut brace on that na?

Skip, yes I was/am.

Dan, PM is shut off because I hate it. I prefer people go to my profile and use the link in there to e-mail me through the forum.

Thanks, Sam. I'll have to keep an eye out for the late model reservoirs and AC hose routing to see why mine is so much different. Even Electrodyne conceded that the brace had fitment problems with the 85.5+ cars... maybe not all of them though.

Any other 85.5+ cars out there with a shorty brake reservoir like Sam?

Dan, Got your e-mail and replied.

Skip, I'd never even known the brake res was different, mine looks pretty new, all white like in the pic, it's possible the PO replaced it with a wrong one and why I didn't notice anything. As for the AC lines, I've seen 3 different cars with all different layouts for the lines and fittings, so that might be the explanation - it seems the AC lines are a crapshoot.
