Question One side of my rear seat back won't latch -- spring busted/MIA

One of the two latches on my rear seat back no longer works. It appears that the spring that holds the longer part of the mechanism has failed/gone MIA, so that this longer catch actually lays in the way and won't allow the peg on the side of the quarterpanel to enter the latch.

Is there a fix for this, or am I hosed? Burgandy vinyl seatbacks aren't exactly rare, so I guess I could just replace it, but I'd prefer to fix it if possible.

Bump.

Please tell me that I am not the only one who has dealt with this nuisance.

try to manualy push the piece open, then try and get it locked in the up position. if you get it, never drop the seat down again. i had a similar problem.
