Question rear bearing

I just finished timing belt change and today notice a nasty sound from rear.
I am sure that a wheel bearing is the problem and i want to be prepared(an order for porsche part took a month here).
Somebody could help me with an SKF or TNT original spare part code?
Thanks.

I thought wheel bearings typically made a loud humming noise when they were going?

Single unit double race bearing Porsche part number 999 053 020 01.
(same as 86 944)

Requires a keeper clip Porsche part number N 012 350 1.

You can also use the 33 41 1 468 903 BMW rear wheel bearing.

Are you sure it's the wheel bearing and not the CV joints or just a loose hub?

And everyone, I though for sure it was a wheel bearing...IT WAS THE TIRES!

Be sure to check that FIRST!

Hi Joliett - I'm having a similar problem on my 951 - how did you diagnose tyres as the problem?

Cheers

I have a mild saw-like sound coming from the rear of my car. Any ideas?

A low rumble is probably sound from the tires. It's getting through because it's not being deadened by any sound reducing material back there. The later wheel bearing is expensive since it's a single unit. It probably doesn't need to be replaced unless you raise the car and there's some definite play on the rear wheel or you look at the brake shoes on your parking break and it's covered with grease. I just ordered a rear wheel bearing from SKF and these things seem pretty durable, that is, unless they lose the grease that's in them.
