Question Another Rear Noise

Just when I think everything is ok and things are working fine I hear another noise. Here goes:

Seems to be a clicking sound coming from rear passenger wheel. IT seems to happen when the car is coasting out of gear or when the car is coasting in gear with the clutch pressed in.When the car is in gear and clutch is not pressed in I don't hear the noise. The noise is pretty rhythmical and i hear it loudest about 10 mph down to a crawl. It also is speed dependant. Gets slower as the car slows down. Had somebody walk next to me while coasting and sounds like rear wheel. Had them also walk directly behind car and they said sounds like coming from wheel and not center of car.

I raised car and didn't hear it when I turned the wheel by hand. Took wheel off and spun rotor by hand and nothing. Put car up on jack stands and ran it with wheel on and with it off and no noise. The stub axle nut is still tight and brakes appear to be ok. the other day I did notice that the top pin that holds the brake pads in was sticking out. I pushed it back in and reattached the retaining clip.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated. As some of you probably know I have just replaced the rear wheel bearings and thought I did so successfully.

Please help as the weather has just gotten great and as all of you can attest to, these cars are great and should never have to be off the road.

Thanks to all in advance.

Jeeper, I would sugguest cv joints however I'm skeptical since the noise occurs in no load situations. I know this is also a symptom of loose wheel nuts although you've had them off recently... If you haven't yet, check the cv's that should at least remove that possibility.

Regards

How do I check the CV's? when you say the noise occurs in a no load situation do you mean with no load on the wheels or does that mean while the car is not being powered forward. Additionally, I forgot to add that the noise is never heard in reverse. Whether I am coasting in reverse or the car is in gear there is never a sound.

Maybe it's contagious!!!!! How long have you had it? ARe you still driving the car the way it is. I am having a difficult time deciding if I should drive it the way it is. Still seems to run great.
