So the 84 went down early winter, milkshake in the coolant reservoir and crankcase oil. Had a bad oil cooler with a pinhole leak I knew about then apparently headgasket let go. Got it tore down and looks like middle 2 cylinders washed out and were full of coolant. Looks like the coolant seeped through the metal layers in the headgasket. It’s an obvious coolant path. Head doesn’t look any better and I got a chipped valve.
Tbh not sure if reman head had new valves, got a great deal and that’s all I needed lol. So 944 back on daily status, only had a few issues pop up, clogged fuel filter, and right rear lower shock.I lost the bolt driving and apparently there are no threads left in the lower arm. So gonna try to rethread it or something tomorrow, we’ll see how that goes. Oh and brakes are sticking, got it narrowed down to front left wheel brake line internally collapsed. Calipers in front were rebuilt right before it initially went down and has a new master cylinder. This 944 is so delicate and always giving me something to work on, but it’s also one of the most forgiving cars I’ve had. With all the issues I’ve dealt with , some major (transmission failure, few headgaskets, and other stuff) it’s really only left me stranded once in the 6 years I’ve owned it. other than that no matter what’s broken or failed, it always manages to limp home and be repaired. Gotta love these cars lol
