Favorite year 944 and why?

I am partial to them all.....
I think that a properly sorted 924, 944, 951, or 968 can offer tons of driving enjoyment, and to pick a favorite I would have to have other factors at play.

I'd have to say 83 but not for the obvious reason, being I own one. If porsche had never built them, you would not have all the other 944's, and quite possibly any other newer p-cars to this day.

I need to ask a question.........why do you guys not like the sunroof?
all talking abou tsunroof delete and when you see a car without a sunroof yaall puonce on it in admiration.......
I love the sunroof....not like most car where half the roof slides back our cars (almost) ENTIRE roof comes off and gives a perfect view of the skies....how abou tto save weight you just leave the sunroof at home?

In this order, or maybe not...
'85.5-86 NA;
Fuchs!
newer interior is more comfortable.
As above it's the lightest and has the earlier cars by a couple hp.
No ABS/airbags.
'91 S2;
The last and the best of the 944s, 3.0/16v and bridge spoiler!
'86 951;
I'm not a boost guy but this has all the advantages of the '85.5-86 NA, + boost!
The 924 series and 968 series get thier own catagories,
I wouldn't mind a 937 or any 968 6-speed coupe.

I got my '83 because it "matched" my other Porsche at the time, but even if I didn't have one I'd like it most. I always like the early editions of things, which tend to be more pure, raw, and true to the original vision. After that, what you get is heavily influenced by outside factions or produced by committee, which tends to be more bland even when things improve. Look at any concept car and see the final product, for example.

It's got to be the 88 924 TT, TT standing for Twin Turbo.
Had 3x the power of the 951, but they only came in automatic.

I gotta go with the 1983! I have only owned one 944 and it was a 1983. What a kick to drive, no power and it didn't weight anything. It just did everything well! I even liked the dash! Best wishes -Jay Gratton
