Gunked up injectors
I've had this car (944S) since the fall and it just hasn't been running real well. I finally pulled the injectors the other day, and the ends were BURIED in gunk. Well, I've changed the fuel filter and had the injectors cleaned/tested. The question is, should I do anything else while I'm at it? Clean out the tank/fuel lines? Or just add a heavy dose of techron when I get it all back together and fueled up?
Do I need to worry about any of this stuff falling down inside the engine? It's mostly tar, but it's got some crumbly bits in there, too. Pretty nasty.

Techron is a Chevron gas additive. It's the only additive I ever use. Porsche and Jaguar recommended it at one time. Note that Chevron gas has Techron.
krahmlow, what you need to figure out is what the gunk is and how it got there. Of course you need to clean it up as best you can, but you also need to find out how to stop it from returning. Was it outside the injectors or did it look like it came from the injectors. Was there and oil leak and the gunk is dried oil? You sure don't need that stuff in the cylinders.
