In my latest issue of the regional PCA rag, there was an announcement of the dicontinuation and collection of the Ecsta V710 Competition tire, due to "tread splice and tread area durability." Customers are eligible for free tire replacement, and have a choice between the Ecsta V700 of the Victoracer tire.
The NE region PCA is disallowing the use of the V710, and maybe other Kumho tires in DE's and autoX events until further notice...
See http://www.kumhousa.com/v710.asp for details.
This might be old news to some, but thought I'd pass it on...

NNJR PCA region disallowed the Kumho V710 for DE's.
They were still allowed for NNJR autocrosses while one waited for the replacement set.
I think the main concern about the V710 is high speed blow-outs. While the tire is obviously unsafe (as the tire company states), it is less of a concern at a Solo 2 (autocross) competition.
Whatever the case, if you are still running these tires in any venue, be sure to thoroughly check them for chording, excessive wear and defects.
Just my $0.42,
-Z.
