Default Shift Boot Find

I have no affiliation with this company, but just purchased a shift boot/**** from them on Ebay and it is a great fit in the late model 944's. They have them in all colors. Of course to use their *****, you have to have your shifter level converted to a shaft-type.

Prices are at the link in the first post. Boots are under $15. I paid $26 for the boot and ****. It's real leather. I have a modified shift lever with the threaded fitting so it went right on.

The **** is pretty light, so it buzzes a little.

Brad-Cam
I just ordered a shift boot only from euromaximports on ebay, so I hope your right! I realy like how yours looks.
I am combining it with a new inner rubber shift boot from partwerks (I have heard some bad things about this place, I guess we will see) and a
"Storm" Momo shift **** (14mm universal mounting hole) from sportscar-parts.com.
I have done a search already on the install of all of these. I am removing the stock unit on an 86 944. I already have plastic ring off without breaking, is there any other good advise on the install of any of this.
Questions : How do I get the stock **** off and the new one on - are there any mods I need to do to the shift rod?

The stock **** slips off the lever after you remove a clip. I assume if you still have the stock ****, then you will not have the right mount for an aftermarket ****. Porsche uses a flat steel mount. The "standard" everywhere else is a round shaft, normally threaded. You can get a replacement shift-lever that has been modifed by welding on a threaded shaft, or you can modify it yourself.

Try a search on this topic - I think there have been several threads on this recently.

Anyone else have experience with this to share ?

I had a Momo **** on mine for a few months, and then when my shift boot got messed up I ended up going back to the stock **** because the Momo rattled too much. I replaced everything from the shift lever to the buishing and tightened all the connections and it still rattled a lot at certain rpms. The stock (pretty heavy) **** is packed with rubber to dampen the vibrations in the driveline of the car that the shifter transmits. The lighter aftermarket ones will shake more and sometimes make some noise.

Some people have good luck with them, I went back to stock when the rattling got too annoying.

I just remembered - looks like Performance Products have an adapter in their catalog - part #912690 for $14.95. I have no experience with it, but it is the only place I've seen an such a thing.

Well after further consideration I am going to just do a new leather boot over the stock ****. I emailed euromaximports that I wanted to cancel my order - that they can keep and I except a restocking fee for the trouble. I ordered on Sunday (Non-working hours) online so they will get it first thing Mon before the shift boot goes out. I guess we will see what kind of service I get from them.

My search has found lots of dissatisfied people due to vibration in non-oem shift *****.....
