Default Wiring Harness Replacement Trouble, ID needed

87 951 that I'm replacing the DME wiring harness on. I picked up a new one from an 87 or later from the local salvage yard and now I'm in the process of installing. Here's the question.....one of the connections under the dash has an extra set of attachments that my original did not have. Also, the color coding of the wires is a tad different on that same connector. I'm assuming that brown wires are normally grounds, so I could leave them unconnected. Any thoughts?

Mike,
Please tell us what part of the dash that is supposed to connect to. I did an engine swap from an 86 951 to a 91 S2 so I had to figure out some weird wiring problems as well. The most likely thing is that the extra attachments are for an option that your car did not have, or something like that. If you have a voltameter, check to make sure the brown wire is a ground. (My dad is an electrical engineer, and he did most of the wiring on my car) Good luck, sorry Im not more help.

Hmm...no idea what that connector goes to but it comes out from the factory harness where the DME and KLR merge into one line right before it goes into the engine bay. The connector was plugged in just to the left (if you are looking at it from the passenger well) of the air bag computer (I'm assuming its the airbag computer, big ole orange thing behind glove box).

Come on guys.....can't someone with a later car (87+) crawl under their dash and take a peek at what that brown connector goes to?
