DME Block Temperature Sensor

DME Block Temperature Sensor
My S2 starts spluttering when warmed up. I'd like to check the Temperature sensor but Craig's Garage confuses me. It says measure at "DME computer electrical connector". My understanding is this is the footwell connector. I see also in posts about measuring at the connector interface on the front bulkhead. Which is correct please? I thought I'd measure by disconnecting at the sensor. Thank you

First step is to measure at sensor. Measuring at the DME plug verifies the continuity and the resistance that the DME circuit senses including the wiring. So if the wiring was failing or had a short, the signal from the DME coolant temperature sensor would be erroneous.

I would begin by replacing the temp sensor, which at zero ohms does not sound healthy. You can check it at the sensor, and / or between pin 45 on the DME connector and ground (or pin 24 on the connector)

Check the new sensor on the sensor itself; the numbers should look like what @KevinGross posted.
For the measurements at the DME connector it's a little bit more involved, but the same idea. For the DME connector test, unhook the battery then remove the DME connector. Figure out which pin is #45 on your car, and stick one of your multimeter leads down there. It's a little spring clip and you should be able to make contact easily with the pin of the lead. The other lead can go to any suitable ground point you find down in the footwell. Provided that your wiring is in good shape, you should see the same numbers as above.
Good luck
