Experiences with paint shops?
Alrighty, i'm looking at having some surface rust treated, as well as a few door dings popped out on the 924. Which places would you reccommend? The best options i was given in my area would be Maaco or Earl Scheib's. Have any of you gone to these places? Which would be better? Any rust treatment i'll be doing before going (sanding or wire wheeling down, then using a zinc primer). Hopefully they can just sand it, paint over, and match it all up nicely.
Which place would you reccommend? Thanks in advance

Look at the "Just back from paint, Plus fiberworks front and rear" thread, it shows what type of job earl shieb does. I was going to go to maaco, because I don't want to spend to much, but after that prime example of a decent paint job, I'm going to earl shieb, should be around the same price of maaco too.

for rust treatments I believe some paintshops (if licensed to use it) will dip the body panels in alkaline to remove deep corrosion. Other than that, its simple sanding with a coarse grit paper.

Brandon,
My nephew got his old BMW painted by Macco way back a couple years and the thing looks like glass. Top notch work. He had to pay the biig price tag for quality, but it was perfect.
I believe it was out there somewhere.
He lived in Yorba Linda, so wherever he went it's close to you.
I'll try to find out.

MAACO from what I hear is dangerous. Their paint is composed of a specific synthetic polymer that can resist all paints except theirs (including BASF paint, and ALL Urethane paints) So in short, if you go Maaco, and the car looks like *** after their paintjob and you want to take it somewhere else, absolutely no other paint will stick to the surface of the car unless you completely strip the paint, re-sand, re-primer, and then finally do your base and top coat paint. Which can lead to the $7000 range in just prep work alone before the top coats are even sprayed on!
