Default Sunroof Cable Woes

I'm in the process of replacing my sunroof gears in the roof, but unfortunately I leaned on the "down" switch too much and the cable retracted and won't come back out. I have about 2 extra feet of cable in the rear fenderwell now, and the "up" switch doesn't work all of a sudden. Funny, it's been working great all along. Any hints of how to get the cable to go back up nice and easy? If not, it's time to get serious with the tools.

I'm familiar with replacing the gears, so my question is just about how to get the cable up into the roof again.

Thanks,
Paul

Paul: Rotate the motor manually to get the cable back in.
