I don't think there is any easier way, anyway you look at, just because of all the stuff you gotta tear out to get to it. I did learn alot because of your experiences back when you went though it, and for that I thank you! And yes.....I did.....

A pretty good time to do it!

As far as extending the nipples, moving the heater valve and such, it sounds like a noble idea, but you still have to go thru all this work to get to it to revamp it anyway, and considering how long the original design has lasted, I doubt if many of us would ever have to do this job on the same car twice as long as we own it.......at least lets all hope not! But I do strongly suggest brand new parts be put in when you do decide to do it.

Yep, you're right, Ken. Mine has lasted 21 years. I doubt I'll need the replacement to last another 21 years.

I have to say that it bothers me that Porsche screwed this design up so badly. This has to be the least well thought out thing on the car. But there really is no reason to try to re-design this at this point.
