Lemme try this hear, not enough traffic over on the wheels forum...
I've got some wheels that were powdercoated, then the lip of them was painted a different color. I need to clear coat the paint on the lip. I'm wondering if I should only cc the lip, or if I can hit the entire wheel with the clear coat. It would be much easier and probably better if I did the whole wheel, other wise there will be an "edge" to the clear coat that I'd rather avoid. Do I need to do anything to the powdercoated parts before I spray the clear coat on? FYI, the powdercoat is a gloss finish.
Also, suggestions for the clearcoat - spring for Wurth, go to Advance and just get Duplicolor or whatever ?
Thanks.

I'm not sure if you will get good adhesion spraying over the powder. The solvents in the paint are not strong enough to gel the powder and get a good grip.
You could mask off the powdered area and just paint/clear the edge.
