Been using a clay bar ont eh rear 1/4 panel for about 2 hours...man it is looking GOOD. I never thought I would be able to bring back the shine to the paint. It had turned a reddish grey with no shine at all. Now it is a deep red with lots of shine, albeit lettle depth. I figure another three bars and a week of rubbing and I can get the whole car done! Ill post before and after pics later.
Aby tips on this are welcome.

It works pretty well so far on fine scratches, but it is the oxidation and grime it works best on removing. I am amazed at how smooth it has made the paint. The pics arent too good, I am going to take some tomm with better light.

Here's a question then: I had (have still) a few spots of what I thought was bad oxidiation on the roof area, just behind the sunroof & in front of the hatch. I tried using rubbing compound on it to reblend the paint, but it just made the area white, so now I have a white "spot" on my car! It's even shiny! I tried sanding that down with a 600 grit paper, but it wasn't doing anything and I was afraid of cutting through the paint and into the metal, so I just stopped and left it. I think the rubbing compound blasted through the paint to a white base coat (?) I doubt this is fixable without professional help / respray. Not that big a deal, because I'm planning on getting the car redone anyway in a few months, but if anyone out there that's more experienced body-wise has alternate thoughts, recommendations, please post 'em. Thanks!

can be found in any auto supply store. Make sure it comes with the lubricant. The lub is sprayed on before using the bar to ease the motion of the bar.

Ive used clay bars in the past. Ive seen little results for the effort. If you have paint thats say a 7-8 on a scale of 1-10, I wouldnt bother. They didnt do a thing for my cars paint. I had good paint though except for a billion rock chips down to the primer.

Wow, Im suprised. My paint was a 4-5, it is now (where clayed) at least a 7.
It has taken a tremendous amount of effort, about an hour per square foot I would say, but to get all that oxidation off is worth it.
