Default Opinions on G-Tech Pro/other accelerometers

Anyone have any opinions on those type of units? I am thinking that having one would be a nice tool for doing comparisons, especially when doing upgrades on 951's, comparing chips, etc...

I know its not the same thing as a dyno, but it would provide a consistent way to measure results.

Any thoughts?

They are not especially accurate so don't use one other than for comparing to itself (that was clear, right?). The numbers are not arbitrary, but they won't match a dyno or a dragstrip's timing system. I can post a pic of my unit displaying a 6.5 sec 0-60 time back when my NA was still almost stock!

OTOH, they CAN BE very consistant and repeatable, this is up to you though as you need to be careful to use it consistantly and correctly.

Yep, that was clear. The numbers would be a meaningless comparison to anything other than what the unit itself measured. Since we have a number of folks at the KCWS tho, I was thinking it could still be moved from car to car for comparison sake, altho we wouldn't want to post 0-60 times, etc as being accurate.

The unit will be consistant from car to car, the problem will be the driver. The units are accurate to the point that differences in driving style or location or weather can make a difference. To make an accurate comparison you'd need to have the same driver on the same stretch of road and similar temp/humidity/barometric pressure.
If you can work around that, I think you'll find that they meet your expectations. I think that once you have a little practice with one, you can easily be consistant enough to use it to compare chips etc. on your car, comparing different cars is a little tougher.
