Pictures! They can offer a better description. Someone with a PET catalog can give you a part number and description.

I have the same thing, I don't know what it's for either, it doesn't leak and doesn't seem to do any harm. It doesn't weigh much and I'm not sure it really serves a real purpose. It right above the power steering pump area correct? I want to know what it's for because I thought I was missing a hose when I first got the car.

It's a water outlet for the turbo cars. Most new pumps have a hole behind it. The plastic piece is blocked off for the NA cars.

Exactly. If you look at a new or rebuilt water pump, you either have a block-off plate or an opening there (behind that nipple) depending on whether you have a na or turbo car. On the turbos, there's a water line that hooks to that - goes (I think) to the intercooler. It doesn't hurt anything. If it REALLY bothers you I suppose you could remove it (check to make sure this won't make your H2O pump leak before you mess with it) or hook a "dummy" hose to it or something.

Whatever it is, don't touch it, you don't know where it's been.

That's right, the S2 has a hose connected there also. It goes to the coolant reservoir.

That block off plate is there so you can use an updated turbo water pump on an NA car.

On a turbo that fitting is part of the cooling system for the turbo, complete with thermostat.

Maybe I'll make it useful and route it to the coolant resevoir.
