polishing compound or alternatives?
I repainted PART of my 951's bumper cover yesterday ( maybe 2/3rds of it) to repair some peeling clearcoat. I've blended areas with great success before on other panels but the blend lines on this rubber cover are wearing me out. I wetsanded the blendline with 1500 grit and have buffed (with a pneumatic buffer) the area 5 or 6 times with rubbing compound and then polishing compound. It's much better and is starting to get a good luster but I'll be retired and a part owner of Turtle Wax before I get the high gloss like I want it. This combination has worked on sheet metal areas of the car with 2 or 3 buffings but evidently the difference is the makeup of the bumper cover. Doesn't 3M make some kind of finishing compound or something for just this type of thing? More aggressive than the Turtle Wax rubbing and polishing compounds?

Bones,
I agree with Mike and Jeremy on the products, but I would recommend against using any type of powered buffer with over a 3 inch pad on your bumper.
Before rubbing it out again try hand sanding with some 2000 then 2500 grit wet/ dry especially in the transition area then have at it with the compound.
