Default What is this plug for?

I was messing around under the hood and spotted the cover, flipped it open and saw the plug. I have no idea what it is, and it doesn’t really matter, but I was just curious. I thought it could be a diagnostic/ OBD1 port, but wasn’t sure if they were using that in 87’. Any thoughts on this?

One of those is a switched +, MAP and MAF users are often directed there when looking for under hood 12v power.
The tool that plugs in there is the P9246 described in the factory workshop manuals.
Some folks make their own with a relay that fits that pin arrangement.

I do not know what data it can extract but I've seen it used.

I saw an article from pelican on how to make a simple tester for a few bucks. Might give it a try just for the fun of it
