So how's Jill now that she's seen it? There shouldn't be that much AK involved considering the sweet car you brought home for a very reasonable price.

Ah HA, Pete! No, I'm not, obviously.

With only 50,000 miles, my guess is $9,000.

the guy advertised it in last sundays paper. i called about 930 sat nite and get a very accurate description of the car. he tells me it has an equalizer, i ask if it has the 10 speaker option. he says probably not because the system sounds lousy (probably does compared to his 740il).

i have 2hrs left on my carfax subscription and he says he is uncomfortable giving out the vin. he then gives me directions to his house so i can rape and pillage his family. go figya!!

i want to see the car the next day. cant, he broke the d/s mirror glass and it is in a local shop.

the guy didn't sound like a thief, so i set up to look at it today. he is 5 min from gagelefsky, who is out of town. i meet andy at his house and andy drives ththe mullet there. we get lost and dave is standing with the guy on the lawn.

dave says someone just stopped and asked dave if he wanted to sell his car. the guy didn't iintercede with an offer to sell the S2.

andy drove it first wwhile dave and i agreed it looked right. i then drive it for what was probably 30 minutes on the sellers route.

i tell him i have cash, he tells me he was offered more than what i was going to start at so i offer 400 less then his asking price. he comes down 250. he says i can bring a mechanic over to do a ppi, but he cant take the car to one. he is a bond analyst.

i try to split the difference once more when dave hits me with a reality check. im so into the game i forget i am fighting for 75! what is my time worth.

i go inside to run a carfax with the guy (cost me 25 aaarrrgh). i say it is very hot can andy and dave come in. he tells me he didn't realize i was going to bring all my friends to look at the car with me. what a DIK. he could have offered us a soda. it was a good 90 degrees today. the guy didnt let me touch his keyboard. i dictated my address and credit card information. strange!

edit: i have over 8k cash for the car, but i am 150 short, he wont take a personal check for the friggin 150! the checks say attorney on them. i loose a license for bouncing a check. DIK.

andy takes the mullet back to his house, dave escorts me to a bank, and i drive the S2 home.

the same S2 gelefsky saw last weekend in a shop by the restaurant he ate in! small world.

Thanks again guys.

Oh, when i started to set the stations, i realized all the tone controls were smack in the middle, the equalizer was off, and there is a bass boost i think by the volume ****. that was off too. yeah it sounded like crap until i boosted the base and turned on the equalizer and adjusted the tone. the G&R on the radio sounded awesome, as did the who, and even the madonna sounded good.

thanks again.

edit: i forgot the best part. while we are wrapping up the deal, the guy goes in the back of his garage and pulls out a bra in the box. he gives me the bra and the car cover in the back seat.

dave says to the guy why didnt you tell him you were throwing that in while he was quibbling with you over 150! i said because if he offered it to me for 75 i would have automatically offered him 50!

Yeah, the seller is in the first photo. Bill Gates kinda dweeb. It's not his job to entertain a clan coming to see a car, but how bout an offer of some cold water?? We could have had it in his driveway..you know?

And Tom...your typing skills are shot! Get some sleep man! It sure was HOt out there, not ho!

Driving that car made me realize I need new motor mounts!! And I would swear you need a new exhaust in the Mullet! That thing is loud!

Tom,

Congrats on your coup! I am guessing $7,600 = $7,500 for the car, and $100 to take your wife out to a nice dinner to thank her

That was the funniest thing!
My car's somewhere between "clean driver" and "track rat" and right as I'm telling the guy that I've got too much into it to ever consider selling it, some guy pulls up, parks in front of my car walks over to us and asks if it's for sale! Guy never said a word about the cherry S2 parked behind his house (I hadn't seen it yet at that point).
Marc, You're 5 min from there? I'm not much further.
