Hmm, I just looked at a map.
I wonder how I go when I get there, cause you are definately right, but I never remember getting on 180... Just 19 to 60 to 19 I think...
And I don't go through Blairsville...
Wow I'm confoosed!

Are you taking 19 out of Dahlonega to Stonepile, splitting right with 19 past the Chestatee and then turning left onto 129? Vogel is right on the corner of 129 and 180. I used to go up there all the time and mtn bike or hang out with freinds who lived off Holly Hill right off of 180. My prefered route back then was 400 to Dahlonega and then 19 past Stonepile and 60 over Woody to 180.

We took 60 from Blue ridge to Dahlonega. There are 4 distinct sections that have some serious corners and switchbacks. Hopefully I'll have a DV Camcorder soon so I can show ya.

The last section we did was pretty serious. I wish we had it on video.. I was movin' out!

It's fun because it ain't easy. Anybody can be fast when camber pulls you around, look at NASCAR ovals.

Oh yeah, I love that drive!!! There is a seriously decreasing radius corner as you come down from Woody Gap, right before you get to Stonepile Gap. Very blind and very easy to overshoot. My friend who lives off 180 worked for the fire dept. up there and used to have to pull guys who drove their motorcycles off that corner out of the trees all the time.

You really need to try that section of 180 between 60 and 129. I seriously recommend driving it slow once just so you know where the switchbacks/drops are.

One thing to note, the local law knows those roads are fun to drive and they set up speed traps and road blocks. Also, the local law used to take performance driving courses at Road Atlanta. I am not sure if they still do or not. My friend Earl's dad used to be an instructor at Road Atlanta (kind of figures since he build the track) and taught many a lawman how to drive.

Allright, this happened yesterday, he was part of our run group. Hard to swallow for us... it was an impromptu run, and therefore not organized... nobody saw him go over. a couple guys complained about dust, and figured someone put a wheel off...

Came off here...

Air lifted out

Flown to UCLA

Towed

Damage

The corner
