Default Need a woodruff key for balance shaft in Indy ASAP!

I'm done with the front seals and putting it back together and now i can't find my woodruff key. Does anyone in Indy area have one new, or used in good shape that I can come pick up? Tom Wood doesn't have any and neither does International Parts.

Thanks in advance.

Try the dealer? Mine had them in stock, I think they were 75 cents.

Is there anything special about that woodruff key that you can't pick one up at a hardware store?

Couldn't you use the key from the other shaft as an example when you go to the hardware store?

If you don't have either one and can wait about 4 hours I can measure one when I get home. (About 5:30 EDT).

Kudos to Mike for an excellent idea. Lowe's had them for .47 each. Half of what Tom Wood Porsche wanted for them, though they didn't stock them.

Pete were just talking about posts like this last nite.

Kudos to you for closing the loop on the thread. Although, would you care to post the size and specs, and possibly Lowe's part#, so that in the future people like yourself, that do a search can find the info they need and go get it?

Regards,

Jeremy

When I mashed my main shaft one last year, I bought some that were close in size, and ground one down to fit. Took a little patience, but beat the hell out waiting two weeks for the $tealership to get one in.

Brett,

You found an exact replacement for the woodruff key at Lowe's? Please post the size and part number.

It is 1/8" by 1/2".

They are not exact, though. The originals are pretty much a semic-circle. The ones from Lowe's are semi-circles, but have a flat bottom. Worked though.

I bought a dozen of 'em at the dealer for I think 5 bucks - really not that bad at all.

Thanks, Brett. Good to have an alternate source and know that it works.

P-O-P, I thought they were not available from the dealer. But that's good to know, too. Maybe they get them from Lowe's.
