Default Taking front speaker factory grills off

Do the front speaker factory grills simply pry off from the front, or are they screwed in from the back of the door panel? Crutchfield's instructions seem to have me removing the door panel and such, but several pictures and threads here make it look like the speakers are top mount and therefore the grill doesn't seem to be screwed in. I'm just trying to avoid breaking the factory grill in the car.

One of my factory grills popped off when I used a flat screwdriver head, wedged between the grill and the speaker edge. The other one wouldn't come off no matter what I did...so I bashed it good! Ripped it off with a pliers.

Either way, they came off from the front...

RicoJay, they pop right off. Just be sure to use a wide enough flat utensil that's blunt (e.g. plastic), so it won't puncture your door panels when you pry grilles off.
