Default Few questions bout est. maintenance cost...

Im taking my car in for new belts and rebuilt water pump. what cost range can i expect to pay for this? i want to make sure that they dont try to jack up the price up front. of course, its going in for a few other things, but they are too vauge.

I assume the belt job it will include new rollers, seals, etc that go with the typical belt job. Including water pump it should run you between $700-$1100. That's the cost here in Houston at least.

Or, do it yourself. Its not too bad of a DIY job. Just give yourself plenty of time and patience.

More than 1200 bucks is a ripoff, I remember paying 1186.00 for belts, rollers, follow up retensioning and front wheel bearings.

That was before I would have even thought of doing it myself. It's a solid one day job for a shade tree mechanic. Make sure a flywheel lock and a belt tensioning tool is available.

Find a local Renn group or PCA and see if they might be able to help you do it yourself.
