Default Cage

Well, I've finally made some significant progress on my cage. All I have to do now is the passenger door X brace and the dash brace. My dash brace is doing to go through the dash. Not behind. Not below. Not on top. Through.

Thanks!

My one disappointment is not being able to attach the bottom of the X to the bottom bar. The angles are impossible for me to reproduce with my tubing notcher.

I see your welding skills require a FE! lol......Looks stout but will you be able to get in? Looks pretty tight at the door members. Even less space once the seat etc, is installed. Good job! Dal

FE?

My neighbor did the welding. I weld like a monkey using his tail. The most I trust myself doing is tacking bars in place for my neighbor to complete.

You're right, it's going to be a squeeze getting in and out. I could have lowered the front upper bar on the X, but since I'm putting bends at the ends of the dash bar, I want them to tie into the same spots on the down tubes.

Hey Geo, if you strapped an egg inside, and dropped it off a 10 story building, I'd bet the egg wouldn't crack! Wow that's a cage.

FE=Fire Extinguiser?

Well, I'm sort of shaped like and egg and am all soft inside too.

OH! Hehe.

I was sort of paying attention to the welding being done at the back of the cage when all of a sudden something caught my eye. FIRE! FIRE! Thank God the extinguisher worked. Just a very short burst and the fire was out. I don't think anything was damaged except for the hood release which I was going to remove as soon as my hood pins come in anyway. Another second or two and I'd be buying a new wiring harness.

Hey Kevin, you at work today? I need to swap some tires off my 15x8 Fuchs to some 15x7. No balancing necessary. They are only there to keep the chassis off the ground for the moment.

Looks nice, how much are you shooting for in terms of curb weight?

Nice cage.

A few more bar's than mine, but nice. Only issue is the gymnatics needed to get in and out.
