Default [S2] 74Ah battery installed instead of 63Ah, throw it out?

Previous owner installed 74Ah battery with 680A cranking current instead of stock 63Ah and 610A cranking current one. It's 3cm longer, rest of the dimensions is the same. Should I go back or this doesn't pose any risk to alternator or wires?

It's fine. Just make sure it's bolted down so it does not hop up and hit the hood. And fit the positive terminal cover as well.

Also make sure the battery can't rock back and hit the firewall - you might see a little light show if it does. Ask me how I know.

Also, in addition to the terminal cover, fit the entire plastic battery cover, which snaps on top of the correct battery, at least. They were OE, most of them lost since new. It keeps the battery from getting wet and then having battery acid leak down, possibly back onto the firewall itself. I also have an anti-acid mat under the battery. It's maybe $25 all up, multiple vendors. I wouldn't buy a 944 without checking under the battery to see what might have gotten eaten.
