Default Defrost "Tip Switch"

Greetings. I have an 86 944 with a defrost switch that won't stay depressed. It's the combo air recirculate/defrost switch. These are absurdly expensive and used ones are not much better. Has anyone cracked one of these open and done a successful repair? I hardly ever used that switch in the past but my OCD says I must fix it..LOL. Thanks in advance.

Not repairable. Lots of brittle little pieces that are unobtainium.

you can buy just the pushbutton switch and solder into the assembly, relatively inexpensive

Relatively inexpensive compared to what, a kilo of coke?

The cheapest I could find anywhere was $175 for a used switch and $300 for a new one. Even you charge $348 for this part...944.653.921.00

I was afraid of that. Maybe I will try a Pull-A-Part and hope they don't realize that this is made out of pure Kryptonite.
