Default Help! Locked keys in car!

I did a search and could not come up with anything even though I know I saw a thread on this some time ago.

Either way I have locked my keys in my 87 944. I am not sure if you can even do the old coat hanger trick or not? Does anyone have any little trick I could use?

Thanks in advance. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Is the sunroof latched properly? I rarely latch mine (OK, it only works sporadically and until I fix it it's too much of a PITA to latch) and if I needed to get in I could lift the back edge with a credit card or some other plastic thing to avoid damaging the paint. If not, I think a slimjim works on these cars.

Go home and get your spare set of keys! Just kidding. Good luck with the hanger, our locks are tuff to do that with. Any tow truck drivers around... they always have slim jims with them. Not sure how they work on our cars though!

There was a thread a while back that eplained how to get in without keys...something to the effect of taking off one of those little light covers ontop of the liscense plate and ramrodding a screwdriver up there or something to release the rear hatch at which point you could climb in!

Not a GREAT solution.. but, break a rear window

Replacements are readily available, and you can swap out the 4x6 speakers in the rear while you're at it..

If it is posible to slim jim it that is cool. I'm embarassed to admit I have locked my self out of many cars and have become a professional with a coat hanger. That rear latch trick sounds good too.

Thanks guys

Well, if you get a really small thin screw driver you can get in inder the door handle and only damage the very cheap door handle seal.
Dont ask me how I know

2 easiest ways I can think of:

1) remove rear licence plate light. The screws are exposed to the outside & once you remove the light you'll see a little bar. Push this bar (needlenose vicegrips) in the direction of the lock & you should pop the trunk open.

2) Remove a rear window. A big, flat screwdriver, or prybar will easily pop out a rear window without doing any damage. Just put something between the prybar & the paint to protect the paint & pry out on the outer edge of the window seal. I've found it easiest if you pop one of the rear corners first & then work your way from there. Installation is the reverse of removal, but use a 1/4" rope laid in the seal to help pull it in.

Rich only has 33 posts....truthfully how do we know he isn't just stealing someone else's car. Fact of the matter is if he is breaking into someone's car....he's gonna do it either way & I'd much rather have someone break into my car without damaging it than to do it with damaging it.

Actually, I've heard of instances where keys from one 944 work on another. In fact someone posted on here about that a long time ago I think. I've heard this more than once too. Maybe get a couple of 944 buds nearby to try their keys on your car?

A lady I knew had a KCar that would use ANY key on any of its locks.

I handed her my house key and she started her car up

This IS true. I was able to open Michelle's car with the 924S keys. I was able to start another with the 944 keys. It's very hit and miss.
Very convienent if this happens at a GTG

I could start my old Taurus POS without any key..
