Default Problem Found?

There is a vacuum line that runs from the intake boot, to this little black thing. What is this? Could this be why the car isnt able to stay on?

That is the oil air seperator, you need a new hose....you need all new vacuum lines. Yes that could be the problem.

PM Myswiss, he has a kit that will update everything for about 65-70bucks. It will get rid of that 3 tube metal venturi system if your car still has it

rock,
thats why i pulled the intake on my car. I had only planned the re-build the fuel rail, but then i saw the hose from the boot to the oil separator was cracked and decided to pull the intake to replace it. I'm also replacing the hoses that connect to the idle stabilizer. I have the original venturi and will probably not change anything there. I also dont want to replace the idle stabilizer for another 150 bucks, i hope this will be wise.

I also noticed that the bolt for the intake support under the unit was missing and the idle stabilzer was not secured in the mounting bracket.

Oh you have a stock NA system, probably no venturi system. I am not familiar with N/A's, so where does that line run to? You can get some 3/4" hose and probably run it where you need it to go.

If it's from the air-oil seperator, I believe that's one of the size-changing hoses (5/8 - 3/8 I believe, but I may be thinking of something else).
It runs into a y-pipe, then up to the side of the intake boot, or is it the bottom?
If it's cracked, it will allow some un-metered air into the system. Fixing that should help your problem, but I'm not sure it would cause your entire problem.
Check the hose going from the idle stabilizer to the intake manifold. Mine was crumbling apart. I touched it and it crumbled, no wonder I was always lean =)

I changed about 90% of my rubber hoses while I was under there, it's a pain pull the manifold again, so might as well change what you can while you're in there. I left all the hoses I can access with the manifold on.

My hose from the idle to the manifold was cracked, almost in half. i used super glue, and massive tape to try and fix it. I need a new one of those, as well as a new little metal thing that goes inside of it. Where can i get those? Id imagine the metal thing is hard to find...

I think you are not going to be able to solve your problems, until you replace all the hoses under the intake.

The rest of them dont have a crack on them. Would it still be nessescary to replace everyone? The other ones except for these 2 look almost new.

I would replace them all, since they are all probably brittle as twigs, and more than likely leak around the clamps.

Rock, just take one of your origional hoses in each size to a parts store and get some vaccum tubing and the T fittings you need. The hose is like 19 cents a foot.

interceptorgt944 we have a n auxillary air valve instead, I have bought a new one but haven't changed it yet..
