I have a relatively new Sanden compressor on the 83, but the condenser came from Tim's parted out 83 and the evaporator is original on the car. Besides the compressor, only the drier bottle and expansion valve have been replaced on the car.

You'll need to measure the condenser line fittings to get the correct flared wrenches, but other than that, it's pretty easy and inexpensive to do.

As for the recharge kit, to tell you the truth I wasn't entirely sure if it would work and as it turns out, the 944 A/C systems need to be charged right at the compressor, which makes it a little more laborious than on most cars.

None of the different adapters in the kit fit exactly, but I got the compressor to suck in all three cans of refrigerant and the thing has been cooling perfectly since. The R134a in the kit is supposed to have some "anti leak" ingredient FWIW.

As I was charging it, I had a neighbor stick his hand inside to check if it was cooling and it really made my day when he said it did!

I understand that you have to drop the NippoDenso compressor a bit to attach the charging hose, then carefully raise it enough to tension the belt. Aparrently there is not enough room to fit the R134a low side fitting.

Anyone know another way to get a hose on the compressor?
