I am going to attempt "TheStig's" refinshing of my PD's. Following his excellent instructions. But I am going for the Anthracite look with the polished lip. Has anyone ever done this and any advise? My question is: When in the process do I have the lip polished?????

What I would do is use some 2" tape along the lip / rim and run a compass around where you're going to polish. Remove the tape from the lip .. take it to 1200 grit, or 1500 if you're feeling spicy .. doesn't really matter though.
After you polish it .. take the tape off, degrease them again, tape it back up, same compass method, put leave the tape on the polished part.
Squirt the color on the rim, take the tape off and clear the whole thing.
If you clear the polished part, it will be slightly less shiny, but the upkeep will be a lot less.
If you don't clear the polished part, remove the tape before you clear, and use some 3m foam tape. It's for door jams and stuff .. any local body guy will know what you're talking about. Tape it with that, then clear the rim. After, remove the tape and hit it again with 1200. It's so the clear will fade into the polished area and not chip.
