I've tried Performance Products ( a likely source for this fluff stuff), Paragon, Pelican, and 9X (ugh!) and Ian's. No one is selling them. Any sources you know of?

Fezz, Thanks again.
Do you/anyone know if you take this new blank to any reputable locksmith, should he be able to copy my existing key (that still works fine) without a problem?
I ask because I've had some house keys cut recently at Orchards Hardware (OSH) and none of them worked at all!

When I got mine, I took them to the locksmith down the street -- worked like a charm. Shouldn't be a problem at all, unless there's an issue with the amount of wear on the key or something of that nature.

Ethan, I wish mine worked fine. One side of the black plastic is partially broken and the light bulb, battery and button are missing. Essentially, it is "hollowed out". So It's high time I replace with new and keep this old but still working one as the back up.

hmm. If you're concerned about the quality of the key-cutters in your area, just get the lighted head from pelican (what I did, in addition to blanks). The metal key blank is separate from the head, and can be taken off one and stuck into another. If you split the head, there's a little plastic spring-held piece holding the metal part in. Much easier to understand if you just split the head and look at the plain blank metal piece on pelican's site. That should be what you're looking for.

JGordon, Thanks. My key's head is messed up, not worth saving. Yeah, my local key cutters (so far) basically can't cut a key! But I do know someone that can, it's just a longer drive. But worth it if running the risk of messing up a $22 blank!
