Dyno Results of Porsche 944 2.8 L NA stroker engine.

Planning to upgrade 2.8L stroker engine with Jon Milledge full race camshaft, lifts goes from 0.474" on OEM camshaft to 0.502" on JM camshaft. Sending hydraulic lifters to PPP (800-421-9150) North Carolina for precision grinding and polishing.
PPP is a NASCAR shop that does the refinishing for considerably less than 944 Online which might also rebuild the plunger component of the hydraulic lifter. MM said he only has the flat tappet cam follower of the hydraulic lifter regrounf and polished

Hi Tom,
I have the same one in my "stockish " race engine ...
It seemed to be a national secret from Milledge when i purchased my cam , anyhow i managed to get a comprehensive answer from him !
I'm guessing it's the S3-14A1 cam ?
Anyhow i think he wanted 8.4 degrees BTDC @.050 lift on the #1 intake valve, i can double check after i go through my emails with him.
Let me know if you have different specs.
Cheers
Phil

How did you setup the degree wheel for TDC and the pointer in the photo for reference. JM never gave me any specs and I had no email conversations with me. I would appreciate it if you can find your email conversions with JM. I will PM my email address to you.
I need to find the JM invoice for the camshaft. When I did the interference valve blueprinting of the JM camshaft, I set the engine #1 piston at TDC and installed the camshaft with cam gear indexed to the mark on the cam gear housing.
Cheers,
Tom

Hi Tom,
I got your email address, thank you ...
Not that simple to get true TDC with a dial indicator in the spark plug hole, i had to make a tool as well as another special one to get a true reading on the #1 intake valve ( lifter) without getting pinched by the cam lobe.
Anyhow , i'll go through my pictures and email you all the info you need.
Cheers

I am pleased with the numbers. The grunt will come at the SVRA Watkins Glen race week September 7 - 11. The transmission is a Kevin Gross upgrade with 2.7 L ring and pinion gear. Fuel Injectors are the latest Lucas 30 #/hr, fuel pressure is 20 psig ,@ A/F 12.6, the engine has about 175 HP at flywheel. I want see how it performs on the track, cannot be too fast or SVRA thinks I have an illegal engine. I do have a Milledge medium race camshaft in my 2.5L sitting on the engine stand for a rebuild.
