Default Exhaust Headers

The headers on my 85.5 NA are starting to crack at the bottom bends. No emergency now, but I know they will get worse. Does it pay to get them welded, or does it pay to get new headers? If so, any ideas on where to get headers? Stick with stock, or go to aftermarket? Thanks in advance.

Get them welded.

Stock tube headers are as good or bette than most aftermaket ones. Even the "performance" ones.

Mig (gmaw) setups sell for about $130 at harborfreight. I just picked one up a couple of months ago. It is really not that hard.

Might be time to pick up a new hobby?

I'll probably stick with what I have and get them welded. I didn't realize that a MIG setup was that inexpensive, but don't know if i'm up to "a new hobby" at this point. Thanks for the help guys.

I'm really thinking of buying a MIG welder.

But in relation to the question mine has already cracked and was repaired twice by the PO. So I bought a set of 84's and need the lower portion if anyones got one. I was thinking of opening it up a bit even though it won't have any real gain now, but in the future (if I do a supercharged setup) it could be beneficial.

Just some ideas if you wanted something to do.

Is that actually a MIG for $130 or is it a flux-core set-up? I'd be inclined to guess that it's a flux-core. It would only be useful for minor stuff.

I was looking into a MIG welder and started out looking at a 135 amp and then 185 amp, but what I found is that you also need to look at the duty-cycle. The duty-cycle basically is what percentage of time you can actually spend welding as I understand it. Basically.

More likely than not a small welder will just frustrate you. It did me when I borrowed one.
