Sorry to hear about your misfortune. I hope you were not hurt? How much damage was done to the car?

Hwy 9 is one of my favorite roads as well. Sorry to hear about that!

Gary.

no, i wasn't hurt. a little shaken up that's all. as for damages... a broken radiator hose (had to coast the car down the road), a broken front bumper lower valence, right front fender is a little crumpled (maybe 5mm at most), condenser's all banged up (didn't have a/c anyway), a snapped p/s belt (i think). the bumper took most of it, both front bumper shocks are shot (at least now the bumper's even)... and oh yeah the muffler tip got squeezed and it looks oval now (kinda looks good).

Mac:
Sorry to hear of your little off. I recorded my first spin in my car earlier this year (Lime Rock in the rain). The back end came around SO fast, it was unbelievable! Glad that you're ok: cars are easier to fix than humans!

I agree with Z-man. Keep it on the track, or keep away from me on the road.l

Did you lift off the throttle? Which side of the road did you impact?

Chris i agree with you on that one. This board has always impressed me with its lack of cursing and general inappropriate content. Lets try and keep it that way...

Marco - Glad you are OK but please edit the title of your thread. . .

I am glad to hear that no one was hurt in the accident.

I think it is important to examine why it happened. From what I have read it sounds like you may have had some body damage to one side of the front before the accident. I wonder if that had any effect on the handling of the car?

Would you mind answering these questions so the rest of us can learn from this misfortunate accident

1. What was the condition of the road surface, ie was it dusty or wet?
2. How fast were you going in MPH?
3. Do you drive this road frequently and if so were you going faster than normal?
4. What was the condition of your tires, how old were they did they have adequete tread?
5. What was your last input before the back end slid, did you brake, or let of the throttle or floor it?
6. What do you think caused the accident?
7. What could have been done to prevent it?

I would really appreciate it if you could take the time to answer the questions to help the rest of us join you in learning.
