86 944 Electrical issues
Hi everyone, recently I picked up an 86 944 as a bit of a track car project. I was pulling a bunch of shoddily done sub/speaker/radio stuff out and found that the harness running up to the fuse panel under the hood had been messed with in the past. I look a bit deeper and find some wires melted together. Excellent...
Do some research and it is the "D" harness going into the fuse/relay panel, which it seems primarily controls turn signals and rear defrost. Since this will be a track car I am not terribly worried about having either of these, so I unplug the harness hoping this will solve my issue. I test the ignition and sure enough smoke comes from the unplugged harness. I pull all fuses connected to this harness and still have hot wires. It looks like the wires that are effected are 1) pin 43 which goes to the flasher relay 2) pin 13 which goes to the rear defrost relay, and 3) ground. Even with the relays and fuses disconnected I am getting 12v on Pin 43 and Pin 13 with ignition on. Any idea why these are getting power and what I can do to shut them down? Like I mentioned, I dont need defrost or turn signals, I just dont want the car to burn to the ground....
Thanks for any help!

Do you have the full wiring diagram for your car? People have posted them over the years and you can typically find them with a simple Google search.
ETA: Here's a good set of links - https://rennlist.com/forums/944-and-...-diagrams.html
Good luck
