Do these Rennbay kits work on the 968 A arms ??? if not whats involved in replacing the ball joints on them.

It depends on what year and what A arms you have. Slide under the car and chip away the epoxy on the bottom of the ball joint. If you see a circlip holding the lower plate in place then they can be fixed using the Rennbay kit. If you see just a plate with no circlip around the outer edge then you have to replace them with factory arms.

Let it clunk for a few months and you will be buying new arms .... or worse. The clunk means the top bushing is GONE so you are riding metal to aluminum. Get those things replaced ASAP.

Travis its a 1993 968, I'll have a look tomorrow when its light.

So with the newer ones how is the ball joint held in ? Is just its an interference fit with the plate pressed in from underneath, seems a bit of a bummer having to replace the whole arm just for a ball joint ?

They slide the joint in from the bottom at the factory then roll the edge of the aluminum at the bottom to hold the plate and joint in position. You would have to find a way to "unroll" the aluminum at the bottom and then roll it back when you are done replacing the bushings.
They do use the same bushings its just a matter of getting to them.

And Devon... Your kit will be there on Monday. Went out the same day you ordered it.

Thanks for the info Travis,

So the main issue is supporting the ball joint base after removal as I assume the only real way to get it out would be to machine the rolled edge out. So its either got to be grooved to fit a circlip, or threaded and some sort of plug insert fitted back in, either way not going to be straightforward.

Fingers crossed I have the older type, but I doubt it

Cheers

I have a question related to the correction kits. Can I just order the longer-shafted ***** and not all of the other stuff? Since I have the SSI kit, I'd like to just keep the brass bushings and replace just that one piece. Possible?

I do let them out on there own on a case by case basis.
You do have to understand that we have not tested them with those bushings and cannot be held responsible for anything that might happen to the a arm if used with them. There are certain stresses exuded on the arm when the GCK is used. We tested with and count on the plastic bushings to be a damper between the ball and the aluminum. Without that damper its anyones guess.
So... Yes I will sell you just the pins but I am not making ANY guarantees if they are used with a different bushing. Just drop me an email if you want pricing for just the pins. travis@rennbay.com

Here we go Travis, pic of the bottom joint suspiciously looking like a 'rolled' type.
