Default cv joints...not now!

On my way to work this morning I heard a knocking in the back end. As I would accelerate so would the knocking to a point then stop. Guess its time to change my cv joints. Of all weeks to happen, I am headed to Watkins Glen next Sunday for opening weekend. I ordered the parts from Zims Autotechnik and they are shipping them three day air. So hopefully I will have them by saturday so I can go to the Glen on Sunday.

This also gives me an excuse to get my car up and pull the wheels off to paint the calipers and give the rims a good cleaning.

Better now than when you pull onto the track for the first run of the weekend!!!!! Guess your car was trying to tell you it needed something before it was ready to give back for the run this weekend...

Have fun out there!

Make sure you have a good 8mm triple square to remove the bolts holding the CV shaft on. It also might be useful to spray some oil on the bolts the night before. I rebuilt one of mine recently, I spent more time removing the bolts than anything else.
