Update: So many guys want to use PayPal, especially the international guys, that I had an account opened today. It is wraydan@msn.com . I swore I'd never do this after straightening out my girlfriend's PayPal mess some years ago. If you want to pay that way rather than just sending me a check that is fine if you cover the transaction fees which are something under 3% unless you are also doing foreign currency conversion which bumps up the fees more. All I care is that the net I put in my pocket is what I was charging. I haven't built bank fees into my pricing scheme yet. Remember guys, this is just a sideline activity to help out the community, not some real business.

Also, I will need to get most of the 35 watt halogens air freighted out of Germany. Appears inventory records were screwded up. I hope to hear Monday what the status is and how long that will take. Remember the last time we did this I had to get the German factory to crank up the line to fill my order which they weren't too happy about. It seems pretty hard to believe but apparently I'm one of the largest buyers in the World for this bulb and when I place these orders it screws up the planning systems.

Erich, I've got you checked off as confirmed for 4 bulbs. So, it would be 4 x 6.75 = $27, plus say $4 for the shipping and packing material for a grand total of $31.

Kevin, Yup, I just checked you off as confirmed. 3 x 6.75 = 20.25 plus 4 shipping = $24.25 total. Send check or do the PayPal deal.

Mike B., Yeah, I remember that now that you remind me. No problemo. 1 in you box.

Paul, I don't think so on a halogen #1157. But I will ask when dealing with the order out of Germany tomorrow. I wouldn't hold my breath. These halogen 1156s are hard enough to get, an 1157 halogen would be like trying to buy a nuclear suitcase bomb.

Dan, can you explain the "boosted" part on the H4s.

A search delivered way too much info.

Paul, The "boosted" is subject to so much marketing hype that it makes one sick. The short skinny is this. Legal bulbs, which is what these boosted bulbs are, can only throw out 1000 lumens +/- 15%. So 850 min to 1150 max. That is the law.

What the 30% boosted do is improve manufacturing, gas mix and filament to get most of the bulbs they produce up at the top at 1150 lumens. So you are going to get the pick of the litter, so to speak.

The 50% boosted bulbs do two things, but remember they still have to meet the 1150 maximum lumen output. They incorporate the 30% technology and then wind the filament a bit different to steal light from the edges. It still meets the amount of light required at the edges but throws the extra stolen light into the central hot spot, and if you measure compared to crap you will probably get 50% more in the center. So you can claim 50 % more light, they are sort of nice and all the rage in Europe.

But you have my light package with wiring and are throwing off well over 2000 lumens of light, over 3500 on main beam. Don't worry about this boosted stuff because you are in the big leagues and way beyond whatever the boosted could produce. And taht is due to the wiring upgrades.

I gave a friend a Narva 55/60 for his motorcycle , was just wondering.

I found out what you mean about the PIAAs, on my bike forum those guys are only getting 90/100 bulbs to last months. I put a PN 90/100 in my bike almost 2 years ago.

Yeah, life span is certainly one of the areas where getting a quality bulb sure makes a difference.

That is why I tested these and came down the way I did. I am not married to Phillips, Osram, Narva, or Sylvania. Much less a POS like PIAA. I just want a good bulb, not hype.

Looking at my test records it has been about 4 years since I started this. So not some flash in the pan.

There's a replacement suggested at local auto parts stores for the 1155's (which are only 5 watts). The Sylvania 5008 is 10 watts and is more commonly found. Worked great for me.

Kevin, this PayPal is all new to me but you are in the US and I assume paying with money in your PayPal account. I think the whole transaction might be free for both of us in that case. Try sending me $25 even and we will see what ends up in my account.

Flight, I don't really like the idea of 10 watt in all the marker lights. First off 5 watt look just fine and can be seen from a long way off. Second you have just boosted your electrical load from 8 x 5 = 40 watts to 80 watts. Though I believe it is impossible to find a 10/21 #1157 for the front so 40 watt to 70 watt. Finally, you want your action lights like brakes and turnsignals to really stand out and grab attention. They won't grab as much attention the brighter the running lights get. So I would just stick with 5 watters for the running lights and not go up to 10.

Dan, can you confirm me for 5 35w bulbs. I come up with $33.75 + $4.00 shipping(?) for a total of $37.75, does that sound right?

Michael, yes, that should be about right, but you are confirmed on the bulbs in any event. I don't remember if I can fit 5 of those 35 watters in a 4" cube box with safety. 4 is fine but 5, I'm not sure about. I did the last buy a year ago so memory is fuzzy on exact costs.

In any event, it will only cost a buck more to go up to big boxes and extra shipping charges.

When I get this all firmed up as to configuration of orders, I'll go buy some boxes that match. I'd just say $6 for shipping in the lower 48 and be done with it, but for the guys that are getting just 3 bulbs $4 is more in order. And they are usually price sensitive on little items.

Buy a battery cable or headlight package and i could toss in a bunch of rocks and not change the shipping cost much. Such is life.

Dan, I am going to send the money order out tomorrow. It will be in US funds and should be there in 3 days. Now the only problem is that I was just told that I may be getting a long term contract. Will know by Friday. The Porsche may be going into storage for a year or 2 next month.

I'll check to see if I still have your address and send out a check for the total for bulbs plus $6.00 for shipping. If shipping winds up being more let me know and I'll post it to you.

Michael, that sounds fine. Shipping isn't going to move much so don't worry about that.

David, well it must be nice to know someone values your services enough to extend the contract. Just let me know what you want to do. This buy is WAAAY over the minimums, so you can back out without any hard feelings.
