Default "custom" air intake

the previous owner cut off the air intake tube towards the filter box. I doubt this adds any performance, but is there any harm done? i took the filter out the other day and there was a ton of junk in it. do i need to go find a used intake pipe to put on or is this fine?

It looks like it's going to suck up warm engine air like a MAF would only without the extra airflow. I would replace it if you are not going to a MAF.

It removes the factory cold-air intake, but I don't think it lets in any more junk than the stock location(inside the fender) would.

That was probably done because the PO feared injesting water from the fenderwell where the factory setup pulls air from.

I don't think it's gonna hurt anything, but it certainly won't help either. You could leave it as-is I would think.
